My unofficial no-GApps build still included Android’s advertising framework. Hardware support still depends on proprietary vendor components.
We talk about “de-Googling” as if removing Play Services gives us ownership of the device. The dependencies run much deeper.
We need to be precise about what “de-Googled”, “open source” and “owning your phone” actually mean.
